Contractors/Consultant Referrals

Forestry Assistance Program for Contractors

Consultants on this list will be notified when landowners inquire about land management projects.  Information about interested consultants will then be forwarded to the landowner.  We encourage landowners to contact all interested consultants in a timely fashion, but they may delay, change their mind, or go with another consultant.   The choice on which consultant to work with remains with the individual landowner.  Our office will follow up with the landowner to ensure they get the assistance they need.

Below is a list of resource management projects within our service area. Consultants interested in pursuing a project described below should respond by email to louis.radecki@macd.org before the closing date.    You may include additional relevant information in your responses or as attachments.  I will forward your e-mail responses to the landowner.

Referral # : 033-19-2025

Location: Chippewa County

40 acre parcel #: SEC 30 T46N R2W N 1/2 OF NW 1/4 EXC N 450 FT OF NW 1/4 OF NW 1/4 AND EXC N 870 FT OF NE 1/4 OF NW 1/4.

302 acre parcel #: SEC 30 T46N R2W SW 1/4 OF NE 1/4 AND SW 1/4 AND S 1/2 OF NW 1/4 AND NW 1/4 OF SE 1/4 EXC THAT PART OF NW 1/4 OF SE 1/4 LYING SLY OF W BRANCH OF WAISKA RIVER

Acres: 342

Property Description: The two properties are adjacent to one another, located on the eastern edge of a seasonal road running north/south. The northernmost, 40 acre parcel, is well stocked with mostly aspen and spruce as well as lesser components of maple and bur oak. This parcel is fairly dry in comparison to the 302 acre parcel, and has good access from a road that leads into the cabin on the property. There is a creek that bisects the 40 acres running west to east. Much of the southern, 302 acre parcel is conifer swamp and sparsely forested with the exception of a strip on the northern part of the property that is more dense with aspen, spruce, balsam fir, etc.. The rest of the 302 acre parcel contains a lot of shrubs and tall grass with scattered pockets of trees. More than half of the trees are spruce with some aspen, tamarack, and maple. Shrub species are primarily willows, tag alder, red-osier dogwood, etc.

Work needed: The landowner is seeking a forester to assess timber value on the property and possibly help them set up a timber sale.

Deadline: 08/27/2025

Referral # : 033-20-2025

Location: Chippewa County

Tax Description: SEC 6 T44N R2E N 1/2 OF NW 1/4

Acres: 80

Property Description: The property lies on the south end of Eighteen Mile Road and contains a mix of forested land and lowland areas with tag alder. The forested areas are primarily spruce and tamarack. The larger stand that is scheduled to be harvested comprises 31.7 acres with a basal area as of 2020 at 81 ft2/acre and an average tree diameter of 9.3". The smaller stand that is scheduled to be harvested is 9.2 acres with a basal area of 52 ft2/acre and an average tree diameter of 8.4". Total area scheduled to be harvested is 40.9 acres.

Work needed: The landowner is seeking a forester or logger to complete the timber harvest that is prescribed in their management plan. This scheduled harvest would be a clearcut, and the landowner would prefer it to be done in the winter to avoid deep rutting, as much of the area has wet soils.

Deadline: September 9, 2025.
